Loading up on Sony again

I went long Sony options at $42.50 and was pleasantly surprised with the results after a move to $52 per share. Now that Sony stock has cooled off, a buying opportunity is showing itself yet again. Sony looks ready to explode

After news that Toshiba would be conceding the format war to Sony, an investment in Sony looks overdue. For the last year, Toshiba and Sony have been battling it out to see which format, HD DVD or BluRay would win over the public and the new high definition format war. Toshiba is ready to give up, cut its losses on HDDVD and toss the win to Sony, which will now have 100% control over the next generation high definition format. Read more…

Sony’s new video walkman

On Thursday Sony introduced a new version of its Sony Walkman, which includes the ability to play digital video. This will be available in September and it will be the latest potential rival to Apple’s iPod. It will support an open platform, meaning that it will be able to play a variety of music formats such as MP3 and Microsoft’s WMA. Read more…
