What to look for before the weekend

Stocks woke up and smelled the economic numbers and took an expected dive yesterday. With all the backing in place stocks when on a profit taking run which was really expected for today, Friday. With tech’s bubble bursting look for a possible continuation of profit taking and stocks slipping. Profit taking or value buys with long term expectations could be the play today but the market might have already had its correction moment for the week yesterday so stocks might close in positive territory today. Amidst the Fed meeting yesterday that hinted on future interest rate cuts, stocks roared again to all time levels at the end of trading. The Fed actions gave stocks confidence that they got a solid backing from the Fed so they kept on climbing. Market Expectations

As earning season gets into high swing, the bears will be stretching out as the numbers for the reporting companies have been lower than expected. Look for the first of the Dow Components to announce its 3rd quarter results today from Alcoa. Modest profits are expected but the prevailing winds say that 3rd quarter results will be some of the lowest numbers in years.
