Pepsi’s Leading Lady


Pepsi is getting a new CEO that was ranked number 11 on Fortune’s most powerful women list. Indra Nooyi who is currently the CFO of Pepsi will be in the CEO helm come October. Indra was born in India and I wonder if she will help change the ban on soda in India. We all know India is a growing country and having that market will help propel Pepsi ahead of Coke. Outside of that Pepsi will gain a lot of PR and free advertising from this move and Indra will be the lead woman CEO of a company with $32.6 billion in revenue.

Dell is recalling 4.1 million laptop batteries that are said to caught on fire. They are batteries that are made by Sony, so the morning may bring bad news to both of these companies for tomorrows trading.

Euro growth has been the strongest in six years and this may bring movement in the dollar and euro markets.

Google is getting into the coupon business by launching a discount coupon site. This I believe is a great idea since I know of many who search for coupons and often come up short and wasting time. Can Google make the coupon search easier? We will find out soon.

I think the markets will be quite settled this week since the Middle East has agreed to a cease fire. The big movements will be a individual thing rather then the market as a whole.
