Global Recession Now Hiring: Part Time Employment Rising for All The Wrong Reasons
The BLS.gov website is an excellent resource for finding all the government data you’ll never find on the mainstream media. While their latest release of information regarding part time employment was posted on the homepage, there has yet to be any mention of it across the board in any media outlet. After deciphering the data I’ve discovered that part time work is growing but for all the wrong reasons.
With unemployment surging from 7 million to 10 million people during the recession as defined by NBER (December 2007 to current) the amount of people taking on part time work solely for economic reasons has increased from 4.5 Million to just over 7 million people.
From those numbers alone we can declare that 3 million more people are unemployed even as 2.7 million more people have taken up part time employment solely for economic reasons. This recession is really starting to hit hard at home.
Even worse is that more and more people are working part time not because they want to, but because they have to or those are the only hours that employers are willing to offer. Part time employment has several economic advantages to employers; namely the savings in health care and other benefits that are not extended to part time workers as they are full time worker.
Since the recession began a whopping 2 million people are now working part time due to a limited amount of work that businesses need completed. This is up from 3 million people to 5 million people, mostly from the areas of construction and auto industry jobs that have been severely cut back.
Even more interesting from the BLS report is that only 1.5 Million are working part time because that is all they could find. Most are working part time for jobs that were previously full time.
Its incredible to see the huge shift from full time to part time employment. Though people are finding jobs, they aren’t getting the hours they want or need to run a healthy budget. This is by far the most crippling aspect of the recession on the economy, consumers don’t have the money to spend even if they wanted to.
The (GRD) great republican depression will change the psychology of the American and European masses with paradigm shifts here-to-fore unknown to mankind. The Post-GRD people will not seek out individual means of transportation, they will revel in public and shared cost transportation. The new American and European will value super-insulated, solar, oriented, Zero running cost, Zero upkeep, housing and use steel wheeled, super economical transport extensively. With the death of the “Corporate Influence” and advertising propaganda in their lives, they will work part-time or occasional jobs only when necessary, they will do huge amounts of home plot gardening, crafts, use humanure, compost, use artificial LED lights and GMO’ed bug-proof, super producing veggies, aquaculture for high protein in diets, use extensive solar and wind power, communicate by solar powered cell phones and compute for survival information. The industrial age and the eight to five shift is over, the information age has begun, the GRD will shift our values away from those of the past, we are into the beginnings of a new age, where technological advances have made survival independent of corporate rule possible! We the people, must take hold of the great advantages offered by technology and the weakening of corporate power over our lives and gain new and better living standards, free of corporate influence and government expenses for war! Stay poor, use no cash, record nothing a government can use, pay no taxes, live just under the horizon, in a less visible area, use the net extensively for education, learn to live close to the ground, but truly free, and never ever forget the price of dependence on the capitalistic system on your freedom. One day a democracy free of the cancer of capitalism will arise as our forefathers intended, Until then, duck and cover, the industrial/militarists have combined with the capitalists to enslave us and rape our countries riches!
