Not Everything Is Golden

May 17th, 2006 Written by KP

Gold has been a hot commodity for the past couple of months and like a gold rush people flocked to this precious metal in hopes of gaining a profit. Now they are grinding their teeth as gold has been taking a hit the past couple of days. Not so long ago gold was about 725 now it has fallen in the past couple of days to 686. People are moving in and out of markets trying to find the next big thing and from this things will take hits as gold has been doing.

When the markets are moving about without touching ground it is best to play it safe by investing in safe blue chip companies that will allow you to profit from dividends. Though this will not make you rich over night it will keep your money safe. Nothing says safe like a DRP (dividend reinvestment plan) often times call DRIP are plans that allow you to profit over a period of time.

Drips are a investment option provided by a company for a shareholder to buy stocks from the company. The unique thing about a drip is that instead of giving you the money from dividends they reinvest the dividends back into the stock. By doing this you will save on brokerage fees. You can invest in drips for as little as $10 a month and you may get a discount from the market price. You must remember a drip is a long term investment and it will take years for you to movement in your investment, but it is a very safe way to invest. Currently Sharebuilder.com is offering this type of investment for you and you will be able to diverse your portfolio through this Internet company.
